Job summary

Actalent in Scarborough, ME is hiring a Chemist I for a regulated manufacturing role focused on infectious disease products. You will produce materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme tests, support GMP/GLP compliant operations, and contribute to product and process improvements.

The position involves following SOPs, performing QC testing, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and other teams to meet production schedules and ensure a reliable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related field.
• Hands-on pipetting experience in a lab/manufacturing setting.
• Experience performing spectrophotometry for analytical/ QC purposes.
• Experience operating HPLC systems.
• Experience using pH meters for solution prep/testing.
• Experience with gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE).
• Experience performing ELISA assays.
• Ability to work in a team and with moderate supervision.
• Proficiency with computer apps (spreadsheet, database, manufacturing, word processing).
• Ability to follow SOPs, GMP, and GLP requirements accurately.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the production schedule to ensure timely manufacturing of bioreagents and materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme tests.
• Investigate problem areas in the manufacturing process and identify opportunities for improvements in methods, yields, and product performance.
• Undertake new procedures and follow safety precautions per lab and facility guidelines.
• Perform in-process quality control (QC) testing of materials, including qualification testing and inspections.
• Maintain quality systems and adhere to GMP and GLP standards.
• Create, interpret, and follow protocols focused on product and process improvements.
• Prepare bioreagents for use in products and manufacturing processes using SOPs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and other functions to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
