Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide key technical contributions for major new products and/or applications including software development in C, C++, or other languages
  • May serve as Lead Software Engineer for projects in new markets or leveraging new technologies
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers across teams
  • Serve as architect for cross-group solutions
  • Collaborate with vendors to integrate externally developed deliverables
  • Evaluate new technologies and propose improvements
  • Contribute to software reviews and define approaches to technical challenges
  • Apply extensive technical expertise to resolve complex problems

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Technical Lead Software Engineer at our Cary, NC office. In this role, you will be responsible for being a key technical contributor and/or Lead Software Engineer in major product and/or application development project or software development for significant new applications of known technology.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for providing key technical contributions for major new products and/or applications including software development in C, C++, or other selected languages
  • May serve as a Lead Software Engineer for projects in new markets or relying heavily on new technologies
  • Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced software engineers (Software Engineer 1 & 2 & Senior Software Engineers)
  • Serves as architect for solutions that span multiple groups or disciplines
  • Works with software vendors to integrate externally developed deliverables into projects, as required
  • Evaluates new technologies, features and functions and offers suggestions
  • Offers process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as appropriate
  • Defines general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems considered state of the art
  • Applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to all assigned projects and resolves complex problems
  • Provides significant contribution to software reviews across multiple product and/or application types
  • Completes broadly defined complex tasks including taking conceptual ideas and putting them to practice by using creativity and ingenuity
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in serving as the lead software engineer for projects in new markets or relying heavily on new technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with architecting solutions for multiple groups and/or disciplines
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
Desired Qualifications
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Wi‑Fi, LTE, Controller Area Network (CAN)/NMEA, Bluetooth and/or ANT
  • Linux kernel networking and writing software in C, and C++
  • Computer networking standards (OSI), concepts, and related protocols (ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, ARP, mDNS and DHCP)
  • Designing well architectured software systems and modules that support new technology and improve capability/performance of existing functionality
  • Developing and/or maintaining networking-related software running on an embedded system using Linux
