Job summary

Tarana Wireless Inc. in Milpitas, CA, seeks a seasoned Technical Lead to guide network software development for our fixed wireless access stack.

You will own design and implementation of data plane, control plane, security, and remote/cloud management interfaces, collaborating with product, QA, and operations. The role requires deep experience in TCP/IP networks, UNIX, C/C++, and telecom/embedded systems, with a track record in scalable cloud-enabled network tooling and leadership

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science/Engineering with at least 12 years of relevant software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, protocols, Internet architecture.
• Experience in socket, network, and systems programming in C/C++.
• Familiarity with network/cloud management systems and configuration/provisioning/administration (SNMP, Yang, NetConf, LDAP, HTTP, OpenFlow, TR-69).
• Experience with authentication, security, encapsulation and tunnelling technologies (IPSec, CAPWAP, 802.1x).
• Leadership experience in coordinating with product management, QA, and engineering teams is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team designing and developing the network stack for wireless systems (data plane, control plane, security, and remote/cloud management).
• Develop network services (switching, traffic management, SLA enforcement, security) for point-to-multipoint wireless access.
• Oversee network and device management (configuration, telemetry, alarms, diagnostics, WebUI).
• Build scalable network/cloud management and provisioning frameworks.
• If applicable, mentor team members and drive best software development practices and cross-org collaboration.

We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Technical Lead: Network Software Development. This role involves strategic leadership, technical expertise, and active participation in different stages of cloud software development/operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud architecture, software development best practices, and a passion for driving innovation. Familiarity with the networking/telecom/embedded domain is highly desired.

What you’ll be doing:

You will be technical-lead for the team designing and developing the critical elements for the network stack of our wireless communication systems including data plane, control plane, security and remote/cloud management. This includes

• Network services (switching, traffic management/classification, SLA enforcement, security) for point-to-multipoint wireless access systems
• Network and Device management - configuration, telemetry, alarms, diagnostics, WebUI.
• Scalable network/cloud management and provisioning frameworks

What You'll Need:

• BS in Computer Science/Engineering with at least 12 years of relevant software development experience
• Packet forwarding, routing, bridging, switching, VLANs, ethernet services, ethernet OA&M
• Advanced knowledge of computer networks (TCP/IP), protocols, Internet architecture
• Deep understanding of UNIX-style operating systems (IPC, multi-threading)
• Experience in socket, network, and systems programming in C/C++
• Network/cloud management systems and configuration/provisioning/administration systems (SNMP, Yang Models, NetConf, LDAP, HTTP, OpenFlow, TR-69)
• Authentication, security, encapsulation and tunnelling technologies (IPSec, CAPWAP, 802.1x)
• Previous experience in telecom/embedded software development for carrier and/or enterprise products is a big plus
• Experience of using AI-agents in the s/w lifecycle (requirements to debugging field issues)
• Experience with version control systems, collaboration tools (wikis, ticket systems)

Optionally, if you also have 4+ years of management experience:

• Leadership responsibilities:
  • You would be collaborating with product management, QA, and leads from various functional groups for delivering various networking features. You would be mentoring the team members and ingraining best software development practices.
• Leadership requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to plan/track/execute complex deliveries, cross-org collaboration, and team-development
  • Strong on leadership skills (for example: Amazon LPs)

The salary range for this position is: $175,000 to $250,000

Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to: skill set, years of experience and the employee's geographic location.
