Ironclad is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to guide a team of engineers building production generative AI systems in the United States. You will blend hands-on technical leadership with people management, setting the technical direction and growing the engineers on the team.

You will own the technical roadmap, partner with product management, translate customer and business needs into technical deliverables, and contribute directly on architecture and production code when needed.

• We’re looking for a Tech Lead Manager to lead a team of engineers building production generative AI systems
• You’ll combine hands-on technical leadership with people management, setting the technical direction for the team while growing the engineers on it
• Lead and grow a team of engineers, balancing hands-on technical leadership with people support
• Own the technical roadmap and quality bar for your team’s systems
• Own the business outcome. Partner with product management and work across teams to translate customer and business needs into technical deliverables
• Personally contribute direct technical output: write design docs, drive key architectural decisions, and write production code yourself for the highest-leverage or highest-risk problems
• Stay close to the architecture and technical details of what your team builds well enough to review design decisions, unblock engineers, and make prioritization calls
• Set and uphold engineering standards: code quality, testing, eval-driven development, and production monitoring for both reliability and output quality
• Manage prioritization and tradeoffs across competing priorities, and coordinate closely with adjacent teams whose work depends on yours
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers; run performance and career development for direct reports

Track record of hiring, mentoring, and growing engineers, and of navigating performance and leveling conversations directlyAble to work directly as a technical contributor, creating design and implementing solutionsExperience operating production ML/LLM systems: eval-driven development, monitoring for both reliability and output quality, and staged rolloutsPast experience in one or more of the following areas: NLP, content/document understanding, search/retrieval, Agent framework or LLM training infra/frameworksStrong technical background in generative AI / LLM-based systems, with enough expertise to provide the technical depth and direction where the team needsStrong cross-functional partnership skills — comfortable setting a technical roadmap in a room with product, other engineering leads, and company leadershipComfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, outcome-driven environment with real ambiguity in scopeProven experience leading engineering teams as a manager, with a track record of shipping production systemsFamiliarity with canary rollouts for ML/LLM systemsExperience scaling a team through a significant architectural transition
