Description

Leidos is seeking a Data Pipeline / Splunk Engineering Intern with a Computer Science, Data Science, or similar technical background to join our team in support of the SMIT contract, the largest IT services program for the U.S. Navy.

Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) program, the Leidos team delivers the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. The team supports the Navy in unifying enterprise data to improve operational visibility, reliability, and decision-making.

The successful candidate will support data ingestion, transformation, and analytics pipelines that feed Splunk dashboards and monitoring solutions used by network operations teams, site reliability engineers (SREs), and executive leadership. This internship provides hands‑on experience in data engineering, Python development, enterprise observability, and Agile delivery within a mission-critical environment.

• Support development and maintenance of data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data to Splunk and analytics platforms

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Splunk or other log analytics / observability platforms
• Experience with data visualization tools or libraries (e.g., Splunk dashboards, matplotlib, Plotly, Power BI, Tableau)
• Familiarity with REST APIs and data ingestion patterns
• Exposure to Linux environments or command-line tooling
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Familiarity with Agile development and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps
• Interest in data engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or observability platforms
• Security+ certification or interest in pursuing DoD-aligned certifications

Pay Range

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
