Job summary

WuXi XDC seeks a skilled leader to manage cross-functional integrated discovery teams, focusing on bio-conjugation and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).

Job description

Responsibilities

• He/she leads a cross-functional integrated discovery team with functional leaders from Protein/antibody Sciences, Linker-Payload discovery, Bio-conjugation discovery, in vitro characterization, in vivo characterization, Developability study in accordance to discovery phases.
• He/she has oversight over functional teams and provide project and portfolio leadership, supporting lead selection for preclinical candidates.
• Collaborate with discovery functional areas to ensure successful execution of various integrated discovery projects, and delivery of results on time and within budget.
• Coordinate efforts and facilitate communication to ensure alignment between WuXi XDC and clients.
• Work with a high-performance team to ensure the best quality services.
• Enhance current services and develop new clients.
• Lead the scope discussion and proposal review.
• Identify the technical risks and provide preventive strategies.
• Facilitate cross projects and cross sites sharing and learning.
• Participate/lead task force for specific technical topics.

Position Requirements

• Strong experience in bio-conjugation
• Strong expertise in Biologics and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) area
• Comprehensive scientific background in biotechnology, and/or protein chemistry, and/or small molecule drug discovery, and/or analytics, and/or in vitro / in vivo characterization.
• Take responsibility for decisions and accountable for results.
• PhD in biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

• Proven experience in creating and carrying out successful plans and processes to solve complex problems.

Leadership Activities

• Work closely with team members across all discovery related business units and with the WuXi XDC management team to ensure coordination of all efforts and real-time communication with all stakeholders.

Independence/Accountability

• Must be self-motivated, and highly flexible for on-line meetings necessary with clients and technical teams during evening time.
• Must be organized and detailed-oriented.

Other Special Requirement

• Candidate should possess strong and effective project management, problem solving and interpersonal skills and have a proven track record working cross-functionally across a wide variety of technical, business and operational areas.
• Demonstrates good understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and small or large molecule drug discovery.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in early discovery.
• Working knowledge and understanding of current industry trends for large molecule and Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) technologies.
• Experienced in working in cross functional project teams and in complex environment, experience in project management and risk assessment is a plus.
• Experience in a Contract Research Organization (CRO) or Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) is preferred, but not required.
• Must have working knowledge of MS Office products.
