Job summary

Advansix in Hopewell, VA seeks a Technical Engineering Leader to guide a skilled team in driving continuous improvements across chemical/process engineering disciplines. You will own initiatives that raise yields, OEE and productivity while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• Six Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred.
• 10+ years of production/process/manufacturing engineering experience in chemical/petroleum/polymer environments.
• 2–3 years of leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers to identify and implement long-term process improvements for better OEE, yields, productivity and efficiency.
• Manage OSHA-PSM elements including MOC, pre-startup safety review, SOPs, incident investigation and HAZOP.
• Develop Process Design Packages in coordination with Process Engineering leader and ensure deliverables are met.
• Become an expert on process chemistry, operating philosophy, and equipment design basis.
• Identify improvements on basic control schemes and advanced process control strategies.
• Interface with Supply Chain, Logistics, Quality, Operations and Maintenance to deliver customer needs.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.

Position Summary: The Technical Engineering Leader is responsible for leading a highly trained team of engineers and driving continuous improvements in processes and production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of 2-5 technical/process engineers to identify and implement longer term process improvement efforts, with the overall goal being to achieve improved HSE&E, plant OEE performance, higher yields, productivity, and efficiency.
• Manage/Support OSHA-PSM elements including management of change, pre-startup safety review, standard operating procedures, incident investigation, and process hazards analysis
• Lead/Manage the development of Process Design Packages in coordination with the Process Engineering leader. Ensure the process design package deliverables are met and processes followed.
• Become an expert on the process chemistry, operating philosophy, and the process design basis for the equipment within the areas of responsibility.
• Identify and implement improvements on basic control schemes and advanced process control strategies.
• Assist in development of strategic activities for assigned areas such as STRAP roadmaps, AOP, capital strap, Innovation, and new products.
• Interface with Supply Chain, Logistics, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance to ensure continuous improvement and seamless delivery of customer needs.
• Mentor and Coach junior engineers

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
• Six Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred
• 10+ years of experience in production, process and/or manufacturing engineering within the chemical, petroleum, or polymer industrial manufacturing environments
• 2-3 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing leadership strongly preferred

Additional Qualifications:

• Proven history of delivering productivity through non-capital improvements and capital projects of all sizes
• Deep experience in the fundamentals of production optimization and process design for a broad range of unit operations including reaction, distillation, refrigeration, and fired heaters, heat integration
• Strong process and mechanical troubleshooting experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills enterprise
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with hourly union and salaried coworkers at all levels of an organization
• Demonstrated leadership in behavioral safety and environmental Title V compliance
• Strong computer skills, including process monitoring and process simulation and design.
• Familiarity with DCS programs such as Experion, Foxboro, or DeltaV

Expected salary range is between $143,800.00 - $215,600.00
