Job summary

Sunrun Inc. is seeking a Technical Engineering Lead for SnapNrack to serve as the technical authority on structural engineering, calculations, and product application. You will translate engineering principles into scalable design standards and support permitting.

You will own engineering methodologies, coordinate with Product Development, manage external consultants, and ensure blueprint configuration and reusable design practices across the portfolio.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 7+ years in structural or solar engineering.
  • Experience with PV design and engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of ASCE 7, IBC, IRC, WFCM, and NDS codes; permitting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own structural engineering methodologies, engineering calculations and documentation across the product portfolio.
  • Interpret national and local building codes and translate them into practical product design guidance.
  • Develop and maintain engineering rules supporting Blueprint configuration and BOM generation.
  • Provide advanced engineering support for complex customer applications and strategic accounts.
  • Coordinate external engineering consultants and permitting organizations.

The role bridges Product Development, Application Engineering and Digital Platforms by translating engineering principles into scalable design standards, software logic and customer solutions.Primary ResponsibilitiesOwn structural engineering methodologies, engineering calculations and documentation, span tables and product application criteria across the product portfolio.Interpret national and local building codes, AHJ requirements and engineering standards, translating them into practical product design guidance.Develop and maintain engineering rules supporting Blueprint (SnapNrack’s online engineering and BOM tool) configuration, BOM generation and digital engineering tools.Provide advanced engineering support for complex customer applications, strategic accounts and new market opportunities including Commercial & Industrial.Partner with Product Development to validate designs, establish engineering assumptions and support new product introductions.Coordinate external engineering consultants, PV designers, professional engineers and permitting organizations.Develop technical standards, engineering documentation and reusable design practices that strengthen organizational capability.QualificationsBS in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering; PE preferred.7+ years in structural or solar engineering.Experience supporting PV design and engineering teams and processes preferred.Experience with ASCE 7, IBC, IRC, WFCM, and NDS codes, construction project plan review and permitting processes, structural analysis and customer-facing engineering.Success MeasuresAccurate engineering standards.Timely permitting support.Blueprint engineering accuracy.Successful support of C&I and strategic projects.Reduced dependence on single-person expertise.Recruiter:Danielle Levitan (danielle.levitan@sunrun.com)Please note that the compensation information is made in good faith for this position only.
