Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Technical Engineering Collaboration Specialist to support the Material Acquisition & Research Engineering team. This role will collaborate with engineers and researchers on advanced research systems, develop evaluations, and provide engineering direction for strategic projects.

The position requires leadership in shaker table testing, fixture design, and collaboration across directorates to define engineering process requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/MS/PhD in a technical field from an accredited institution.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” level security clearance (U.S. citizenship).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with research engineers and scientists to provide technical input on advanced system design and lab modifications.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to offer solutions to everyday issues for Facility Managers, Engineers, and Researchers.
• Lead shaker table testing operations and fixture design.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues with engineers and operators using data analytics tools.
• Develop intuitive graphical interfaces and models using various software packages.
• Prepare Technical Evaluations or ECARs and provide procurement input for capital equipment.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

• Collaborate with research engineers and scientists and engineers to provide technical input on various advanced research system design and lab modifications.
• Function as a Subject Matter Expert providing to offer solutions to everyday issues challenges for facing Facility Managers, Engineers, and Researchers.
• Function as a and Subject Matter Expert on Shaker Table testing operations and fixture design.
• Use experience and knowledge to work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot and repair issues.
• Use data analytic tools and experience to solve complex technical issues.
• Use various software packages to develop intuitive graphical interfaces and/or models.
• Prepare Technical Evaluations or Engineering Calculation Reports (ECAR), as applicable.
• Provide technical input to support procurement activities of capital or other systems science equipment with respect to operations, reliability, and performance.
• Provide technical direction on proposals and strategic business ventures to ensure the work is being executed timely and correctly.
• Exercise independent judgment and understanding of Engineering/BEA/DOE requirements and priorities.
• Develop relationships as needed to support work assignments if this is very important when requires technical inputs lay existing outside of normal your expertise or education.
• Collaborate with engineers and researches across all directorates to identify NS&T engineering process requirements for design and operation of research systems.

Required

• Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field from an accredited institution and 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's of Science degree in a technical field from an accredited institution and 6 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in a technical field from an accredited institution and 4 years of relevant experience.
• Level 5: Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field from an accredited institution and 14 years of relevant experience; or a Master's of Science degree in a technical field from an accredited institution and 8 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in a technical field from an accredited institution and 6 years of relevant experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. Job Information

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Technical Engineering Collaboration Specialist to work on our Material Acquisition & Research Engineering team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.

• The pay range for this position is: Level 4 ($95,256 - $195,288) / Level 5 ($114,360 - $234,336). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
• Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
• TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
