Job summary

Gannon University invites applications for a part-time Technical Director and designer to support the Schuster Theatre's production season. The successful candidate will organize stage management, supervise faculty and student designers, and secure technicians for all performances.

Additional duties include managing house operations, maintaining inventory of equipment, and training student workers on safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an area of technical theatre is required.
• Professional experience in the theatre with demonstrated strength in student supervision and leadership is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize stage management for the Schuster Theatre's production season, including mentoring and supervising student stage managers and assistants.
• Supervise and collaborate with faculty, student, and guest designers for the theatre's production season.
• Secure sound and lighting technicians for all performances.
• Manage house operations for productions and related functions.
• Organize and maintain an inventory of technical properties (lighting and sound equipment, scenic shop).
• Collaborate with Artistic Director and Arts Manager to assign production team roles and manage technical/design needs.
• Train and supervise student workers on scenic/technical equipment and safety precautions; oversee student projects.
• Oversee scenic building processes and sign off on safety inspections with the Artistic Director and Arts Manager.
