Job summary

Boston Proper is seeking a skilled Technical Designer (Wovens) to join our Product Development & Technical Design team in Boca Raton. This role guides the technical development from initial fit through production, coordinating with Design, Product Development, and Merchandising for exceptional fit, construction, and quality across all categories.

The candidate will manage details, fit comments, and vendor communications, ensuring timelines, production readiness, and adherence to Boston Proper

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Product Development, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of apparel technical design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, fit, fabrics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working with PLM systems.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency, documentation, and collaboration.
  • Experience with overseas vendors and global sourcing preferred.
  • Experience in women's contemporary or fashion apparel preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital patternmaking or 3D product development tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain technical packages, including detailed fit comments, construction details, garment specifications, and pattern corrections under the direction of the Technical Design Lead.
  • Measure development and production samples, evaluate against approved specifications, and accurately update PLM.
  • Prepare garments for fittings, including organizing samples, measuring, and documenting fit observations.
  • Attend fittings, record detailed fit comments, and communicate revisions to vendors promptly.
  • Manage assigned styles from first fit through production approval while maintaining development calendars and milestones.
  • Track sample status and approvals within PLM to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Review workmanship, garment construction, grading, and overall product quality to ensure Boston Proper standards.
  • Assist with photo sample approvals, pre-production sample reviews, and production readiness.
  • Coordinate alteration requests and sample modifications as needed.
  • Review catalog and website copy for accurate garment descriptions, fit information, measurements, and size equivalents.
  • Partner with Product Development, Design, Merchandising, and vendors to resolve technical issues and improve product quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance technical processes and product execution.

We are searching for a Technical Designer (Wovens)to join this amazing Product Development & Technical Design team. This role supports the technical development process from initial fit through production, partnering closely with Design, Product Development, and Merchandising to ensure exceptional fit, construction, and quality across all product categories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience in women's contemporary or fashion apparel preferred
  • Knowledge of digital patternmaking or 3D product development tools is a plus preferred
