This onsite, full-time role collaborates with design, project management, and production teams to define materials, construction methods, and installation requirements.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience designing and detailing custom fabricated environments.
• Experience leading technical designers, fabrication teams, or comparable project teams.
• Background in scenic fabrication, trade show exhibits, experiential environments, custom displays, or related work.
• Practical understanding of materials, fabrication methods, shop drawings, and CNC production workflows.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, SketchUp, or Inventor.
• The ability to explain your technical decisions and collaborate with the people responsible for building your designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design staff and coordinate with creative, project management, and fabrication teams.
• Evaluate concepts and develop practical approaches to construction, assembly, transportation, and installation.
• Oversee shop drawings, material specifications, assembly details, and production documentation.
• Ensure digital fabrication files are accurate and suitable for the equipment and materials being used.
• Identify technical issues early and resolve problems throughout the build process.
• Evaluate materials, labor, equipment, and outside services to support project estimates.
• Establish drawing standards and review procedures that help production teams work efficiently.
• Mentor team members while managing competing priorities and firm delivery deadlines.

Work Arrangement: Onsite | Full Time

We are seeking a Technical Director with a strong background in technical design, custom fabrication, and team leadership to help bring complex creative concepts to life.

In this newly created role, you will work closely with design, project management, and production teams to turn creative ideas into practical, buildable solutions. You will help determine the right materials, construction methods, fabrication approach, and installation requirements for each project.

The work will include custom scenery, exhibits, displays, branded environments, and other experiential builds. You will lead the technical design process, support the fabrication team, improve production documentation, and help establish more consistent standards for how projects are planned, detailed, and prepared for production.

What You Will Do
