Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a qualified engineer to contribute to the design and development of the New Glenn Upper Stage. You will create and maintain 3D models and drawings, ensuring manufacturability for a heavy-lift vehicle.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, applying ASME Y14.5 GD&T, managing documentation in Teamcenter, and supporting design reviews to meet program requirements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical design or drafting in aerospace/advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).
  • Experience applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems for drawing and configuration management.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models, drawings, and CAD assemblies using Creo or equivalent.
  • Develop engineering drawings and GD&T callouts per ASME Y14.5 for manufacturing and quality.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low‑Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human‑capable.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, designers, and technicians, you will support the design and development of the New Glenn Upper Stage, contributing to one of the most ambitious launch vehicles in the new space era. You will work closely with engineers to translate concepts into detailed, manufacturable designs that push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models, drawings, and CAD assemblies for Upper Stage structural, mechanical, and propulsion components using PTC Creo or equivalent software
  • Develop engineering drawings and GD&T callouts in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards to support manufacturing and quality
  • Collaborate with engineers to support design iterations, trade studies, and design reviews (PDR, CDR)
  • Interface with manufacturing, tooling, and quality teams to ensure designs are producible and meet program requirements
  • Manage and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and configuration control within PLM systems such as Teamcenter
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in technical design or drafting in an aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred)
  • Experience applying GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems for drawing and configuration management
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing components for launch vehicles, spacecraft, or high-performance aerospace systems
  • Knowledge of materials and processes common to aerospace manufacturing, including metals, composites, and surface treatments
  • Familiarity with model‑based definition (MBD) practices and paperless manufacturing workflows
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, iterative development environment with aggressive schedules
  • Exposure to structural or propulsion system design, including pressure vessels, fluid lines, or mechanisms
Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07
