Komar, a global leader in the design, sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution of high-quality sleepwear, layering, and intimates is seeking an Intimates Technical Designer to join our team at our Jersey City, NJ corporate office.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of intimate apparel construction, fit, grading, fabrics, and garment specifications. This individual will partner closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and overseas vendors to ensure that products meet quality, fit, construction, and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain technical packages, including detailed garment specifications, construction details, measurements, and grading.
- Conduct fit sessions and communicate fit comments and revisions to vendors.
- Evaluate samples for fit, construction, quality, and adherence to approved specifications.
- Develop and maintain measurement specifications and fit standards for intimate apparel categories.
- Partner with Design and Product Development to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the development and production process.
- Communicate technical comments and corrections clearly and efficiently to domestic and overseas vendors.
- Review and approve lab dips, trims, fabrics, and garment construction as needed.
- Identify potential fit and construction issues and provide practical solutions.
- Ensure consistency of fit and quality across multiple product categories and vendors.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and support the development calendar to meet key deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field preferred.
- 3–5+ years of Technical Design experience, preferably in intimate apparel, lingerie, sleepwear, or related categories.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, fit, grading, and fabrication.
- Experience with bras, panties, shapewear, lingerie, or other intimate apparel categories preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with overseas vendors and factories is a plus.
