Job summary

Cozy Earth in Utah is seeking a Technical Designer to lead the technical design process for our apparel and loungewear, turning design intent into production-ready product.

You will work with Product and Design teams to develop specs, BOMs, and construction details, ensuring quality and cost targets are met while maintaining organized tech packs and supplier communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Technical Design, Patternmaking, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of pattern construction, manufacturing processes, and the product development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with sustainable knit and woven fabrications and performance technologies preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (sketching), PLM software, and MS Office (Excel).
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CLO 3-D software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design process end-to-end, manage product specs with Product and review proto and fit samples for workmanship, construction, fit, and production feasibility.
  • Build new product specifications and blocks, including measurements and detailed technical sketches.
  • Partner closely with the Product team to define and refine processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Design in early tech pack development to ensure the BOM, specs, and construction details are accurately captured.
  • Create technical specifications and maintain tech packs from first proto through bulk production.
  • Work proactively with the Product team to identify construction techniques that keep quality on par with the original design intent.
  • Engineer product to meet predetermined costs and gross margin targets.
  • Partner with the Product team to approve proto samples and confirm production readiness.
  • Maintain accurate, organized records of all technical design specifications.
  • Communicate feedback and fit comments with suppliers, including corrections to factory patterns.
