Job summary
Esri is seeking a mid‑level Database Engineer to design and secure scalable enterprise database environments for defense and intelligence projects in the St. Louis area.
You will translate complex requirements into data solutions, configure databases, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery while applying geospatial data concepts. Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA.
- Familiarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, security.
- Scripting in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows.
- Exposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing.
- US citizenship with Active or Current Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field.

Build the Data Foundation Behind Mission Critical Geospatial Systems.
Join Esri`s Professional Services organization and partner directly with Defense and Intelligence customers to design, implement, secure, and optimize enterprise database environments supporting geospatial applications.
You`ll combine database engineering expertise with customer consulting skills to understand technical requirements, design scalable solutions, improve database performance and resilience, and guide customers through data migration and integration initiatives.
Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the St. Louis, MO area for this position.

- US citizenship with Active or Current (within 2 years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
- Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
- CompTIA Security + certification
- One or more industry-standard IT certifications (such as Esri, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
- Master`s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is$84,240-$142,480 USD
