Job summary

Esri is seeking a Technical Consultant to guide strategic customers in designing and deploying enterprise geospatial systems and AI-enabled workflows. The role blends GIS, IT, cloud technologies, and hands-on enablement to maximize ArcGIS investments and accelerate adoption.

You will partner with customers, translate requirements into architectural decisions, and deliver hands-on enablement across the ArcGIS platform, helping organizations realize GIS value and navigate complex enterprise

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in GIS technical support, system administration, technical consulting, or a related customer-facing technical role.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, configuration, administration, and enterprise GIS best practices.
  • Proven experience working with enterprise geodatabases, data management workflows, and database administration concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, evaluate technical solutions, and deliver successful outcomes within enterprise environments.
  • Strong communication and consulting skills with the ability to influence technical direction and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly, including cloud and AI-enabled capabilities, and apply them to customer challenges.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level customers and understanding enterprise IT architectures, operational requirements, and business objectives.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, GIS, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.

Responsibilities

  • Help evaluate, pilot, and operationalize emerging technologies including AI-enabled workflows, cloud-native GIS, enterprise imagery, reality mapping, and other evolving ArcGIS capabilities.
  • Provide onsite, hands-on solution enablement across a broad range of Esri technologies, working to translate priorities into action.
  • Operate as an extension of a customer's GIS team and Esri Program Team, to accelerate progress, reduce friction, and be available to help with unexpected situations.
  • Drive organizational alignment and adoption of innovative ArcGIS capabilities and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Engage directly with strategic customer's GIS teams to understand requirements and support implementation of solutions across the ArcGIS platform.
  • Act as a technical liaison and facilitate reach-back coordination with the established Esri Program Team.
  • Support a wide range of ArcGIS capabilities including configuration and integration for the business teams.
  • Maintain continuous awareness of a customer's priorities and system patterns to ensure alignment between day-to-day work and goals

Overview

As a Technical Consultant, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to strategic Esri customers, helping them design, implement, optimize, and evolve enterprise geospatial systems that support critical business operations. Working at the intersection of GIS, enterprise IT, cloud technologies, and emerging capabilities such as AI-enabled workflows, you will help organizations maximize the value of their ArcGIS investments and accelerate adoption of innovative solutions.

This role goes beyond traditional technical consulting. You will partner directly with customers to understand their business objectives, evaluate technical requirements, guide architectural decisions, and deliver hands-on technical enablement across the ArcGIS platform. You will help customers operationalize new capabilities, resolve complex technical challenges, and drive long-term success through trusted advisory relationships.

Recommended Qualifications
  • Experience with AI-enabled workflows, machine learning, large language models, or intelligent automation technologies.
  • Experience deploying and supporting ArcGIS Enterprise in cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Foundational Linux system administration experience.
  • Python scripting experience for automation, administration, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, web services, APIs, and modern application architectures.
  • Experience supporting strategic enterprise customers and large-scale GIS implementations.
  • Background in utility, energy, transportation, telecommunications, government, defense, or other large infrastructure-focused industries.
  • Experience with system performance monitoring, scalability planning, and optimization methodologies.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Engineering, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is

$84,240 — $142,480 USD
