Qualifications

  • 3+ years as Technical Business Analyst or similar role.
  • 2+ years hands-on Appian platform experience (process modeling, reports, integrations).
  • Knowledge of BPM and workflow automation concepts.
  • Experience gathering requirements and creating BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst with Appian experience and strong data analysis skills to support the delivery of process automation and workflow optimization initiatives across a diverse portfolio of applications. This role will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into scalable Appian solutions while leveraging data insights to drive decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in Agile environments, gathering and documenting requirements, managing application backlogs, and partnering with developers to implement low-code workflow solutions. This position will support applications across Finance, Digital, Operations, HR, and other business functions.

Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process workflows.
  • Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder meetings, sprint planning sessions, and solution reviews.
  • Conduct gap analyses and identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning, execution, and issue resolution.
Appian Platform & Process Automation
  • Collaborate with Appian developers to design and enhance workflows, process models, business rules, and low-code solutions.
  • Manage and prioritize application backlogs alongside product owners and business stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and optimize Appian platform capabilities to meet evolving business needs.
  • Assess solution feasibility and recommend configuration versus custom development approaches.
  • Support production applications through troubleshooting, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Define and promote Appian platform standards, governance, and best practices.
Data Analysis & Integration
  • Analyze and map data flows across Appian, Salesforce, and third-party platforms.
  • Develop and maintain data models, entity relationships, and integration documentation.
  • Perform data profiling, mapping, cleansing, and quality assessments.
  • Support data migration and system integration initiatives.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and business teams to transform data into actionable insights.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on data discrepancies and process issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with teams across Operations, Finance, Digital, HR, UX, Salesforce, and Data Engineering.
  • Document process flows, system architectures, integration patterns, and deployment procedures.
  • Support API integration efforts through documentation, payload mapping, and requirements definition.
  • Stay current on Appian platform updates, enhancements, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with the Appian platform, including process modeling, records, reports, and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of Business Process Management (BPM) and workflow automation concepts.
  • Experience gathering requirements and creating business requirements documents, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, and business process improvement.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data mapping, and ETL concepts.
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and provide business recommendations.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or similar collaboration tools.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
