Job summary

Popular is seeking a Technical Assistant in Guaynabo, PR to handle mortgage loan disbursements for sales and refinancings. The role supports Closing Officers and ensures timely processing within established procedures.

Requirements include 1–3 years in mortgage banking, strong customer service, and proficiency in Windows/Office 365, Encompass, SAP and Bookings. Ability to work 8:30am–5:30pm with Saturdays as needed.

Qualifications

• 60 approved credits or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Focused on customer service, collaboration and teamwork, and meeting regulatory controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all the disbursements of the mortgage loans formalized, both for sales and refinancing.
• Manage authorized signatures for all paper checks.
• Perform internal control to verify that all required fees have been collected during closing attendance, ensuring that checks can be delivered to involved parties and closing is completed.
• Send checks for disbursed cases to HUBs and Mortgage Centers via internal delivery.
• Complete wire transfer applications through the Money Transfer System (MTS) for payments per procedure.
• Process cancellation balances and send them to banking institutions within 2 days or less.
• Process and submit Hazard's CRIM payments and insurance policies.
• Index in Encompass all documents related to disbursement of each loan within the established period.
• Answer calls from branches, customers and suppliers regarding checks or payments received.
• Provide support for the delivery of checks to customers and service providers and in other necessary unit functions.

Responsible for completing all disbursements corresponding to the mortgage loans formalized, whether sales or refinancings, for the Closing Officers of the business in the established time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare all the disbursements of the mortgage loans formalized, both for sales and refinancing.
• Manage authorized signatures for all paper checks.
• Perform internal control to verify that all required fees have been collected during closing attendance, ensuring that the checks related to the transaction can be delivered to the involved parties and the closing can be completed according to established procedures.
• Send checks for disbursed cases to HUBs and Mortgage Centers via internal delivery.
• Complete wire transfer applications through the Money Transfer System (MTS) application for the payments that apply according to the established procedure.
• Process the cancellation balances and send them to the different banking institutions in a period of 2 days or less.
• Process and submit Hazard's CRIM payments and insurance policies.
• Index in Encompass all documents related to the disbursement of each loan within the established period.
• Answer calls from branches, customers and suppliers regarding checks or payments received.
• Provide support for the delivery of checks to customers and service providers and in any other necessary functions in the unit.

Education

60 approved credits or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

One (1) to three (3) years in mortgage banking or related fields.
