Job summary

TELYON is seeking a Technical Asset Manager to oversee the technical performance, reliability, and operational success of our renewable energy assets, including solar, BESS, and microgrid projects. You will monitor performance, analyze data, coordinate with O&M providers, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Project Management to optimize production, manage maintenance budgets, track warranties, and report to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in renewable energy asset management or O&M.
  • Strong data analytics capabilities with Solar DAS, SCADA, and asset management software.
  • Working knowledge of solar PV, BESS, and renewable energy operations.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across Engineering, Operations, Finance and Projects.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor technical performance of C&I solar PV, BESS, community solar, and microgrid assets.
  • Analyze performance reports to identify issues and optimize system performance.
  • Coordinate with O&M providers to ensure preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Support system handover from construction to operations with proper onboarding.
  • Track portfolio-level KPIs and implement initiatives to improve production and reliability.
  • Assist with operational budgeting and maintenance expense tracking.
  • Prepare technical performance reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure safety standards and regulatory compliance for assets.
  • Coordinate with utilities on interconnection, outages, metering, and operations.
  • Maintain asset documentation and assist in contract administration.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Project Management teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve asset performance and availability.

Job description

Location: Headquarter office (Old Saybrook, CT) preferred; hybrid and remote work considered

TELYON is seeking a Technical Asset Manager to oversee the technical performance, reliability, and operational success of our growing portfolio of renewable energy assets. This role will primarily focus on the technical aspects of asset management, including performance monitoring, analytics, operational optimization, and coordination with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) providers. The ideal candidate will also possess a working knowledge of contract management, financial performance, and regulatory compliance to support the long‑term success of our assets.

The Technical Asset Manager will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Project Management, Finance, and external vendors to maximize system performance, ensure contractual compliance, and drive operational excellence across commercial and industrial (C&I) solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), community solar, and microgrid projects.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the technical performance of commercial & industrial (C&I) solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), community solar, and microgrid assets.
  • Analyze and review performance reports and project specific performance data to identify issues and initiate actions to optimize system performance.
  • Coordinate with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) providers to ensure the timely completion of preventative and corrective maintenance and contractual obligations.
  • Participate in system transition from construction to operations, ensuring proper onboarding and documentation.
  • Accountable for portfolio-level performance KPIs, proactively identifying trends and implementing initiatives to improve production, response times, and asset reliability.
  • Assist with operational budgeting and tracking maintenance expenses.
  • Prepare technical performance reports for internal stakeholders and project owners.
  • Monitor the performance and operational health of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Ensure assets remain compliant with applicable safety standards, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track equipment warranties and coordinate warranty claims with manufacturers and vendors.
  • Coordinate with utility companies regarding interconnection, outages, metering, and operational matters.
  • Support contract administration and maintain accurate asset documentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Project Management teams to maximize asset performance and reliability.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve asset performance, availability, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in renewable energy asset management or Operations & Maintenance (O&M); experience with commercial & industrial (C&I) or community solar portfolios preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong data analytics capabilities with experience using Solar Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), SCADA systems, and asset management software.
  • Working knowledge of solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and renewable energy operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and utility partners.
