Heartland Business Systems in Eau Claire, WI seeks a Technical Architect to develop, implement, and support network services for consulting clients while mentoring engineers and translating business challenges into precise specifications.

Lead multi-technology projects with Practice Leads and Project Managers, drive collaboration across teams, maintain standards and certifications, and ensure timely, on-budget delivery while delivering a world-class customer experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a technical field.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent certifications/experience.
• Two+ professional level certifications.
• Certification set: CCNP, CCP-V, VCAP-DCV, MCA.
• Experience designing and architecting network solutions.
• Installing and supporting Cisco/HP-Aruba switches and routing.
• IOS/IOS-XR/NX-OS knowledge and best practices.
• Routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP; L2/L3 design.
• Outcome-focused mindset and strong prioritization.
• Team player with professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Practice Leads to create and maintain documents and procedures.
• Execute large projects with Project Managers and Practice Leads on time and budget.
• Provide leadership and guide Engineers to complete tasks accurately and timely.
• Be Lead Engineer on multi-technology projects.
• Provide daily project updates and proactive timelines, hours, resources.
• Foster collaboration between business units to deliver a world-class customer experience.
• Demonstrate strong communication in team and customer meetings.
• Contribute to product selection, standards, and educate sales on offerings.
• Maintain professionalism and cross-team collaboration in regional and virtual contexts.
• Keep current with vendor/industry certifications and new solutions.

The Technical Architect will develop, implement, and support network services and solutions for consulting clients while mentoring and sharing skills with others. This position will build a customer-focused relationship with client to identify business challenges and develop specifications and requirements to arrive at the best solution.

Roles and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Play an active role by collaborating with Practice Leads to create and maintain documents and procedures.
• Execute, with Project Managers and Practice Leads, on large projects on time and on budget.
• Provide active leadership and articulate to the Project Management Team what is needed for success and lead the other Engineers to ensure tasks are being completed accurately and timely.
• Be the Lead Engineer on projects that have multiple different technologies.
• In collaboration with the Project Management Team Members, if applicable, provide daily updates on all projects and be proactive with communication to all parties on timelines, hours, resources, concerns, etc.
• Proactively execute collaboration between different business units to provide a world class experience for the customer.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and take a leadership role in Team and customer meetings.
• Contribute to product selection and research, configuration standards and best practices and educate our sales teams on these products and services so that they can sell them.
• Work in a team atmosphere between regional and virtual practices, while at all times maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
• Maintain current vendor/industry specific certifications and stay current on new products and solutions.
• Continue to grow personally along the guidelines of the Engineering skills matrix, improving your skill set around project experience, leadership, certifications and technical expertise.
• Meet annual billable hour goal, as defined by HBS. This number may change over time as the business evolves.

Requirements

How to qualify

• 5+ years in a technical related field
• Bachelor’s Degree, equivalent certifications or equivalent work experience
• At least two or more Professional level certifications
• CCNP, CCP-V, VCAP-DCV, MCA
• Experience designing and architecting network based solutions
• Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products
• IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS Experience/Best Practices
• Routing Protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2 / L3 Architecture and Design Multicast, QoS
• Maintain an outcome focused mindset
• Have strong prioritization skills
• Always be a team player
• Carry a professional attitude and respectful demeanor
