Job description

The Technical Architect is a high-impact, senior technical role responsible for the architectural design of our Salesforce based lab software implementations.

This role is accountable for designing the overall Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) solutions we implement for customers including the data architecture, user experience, and end-to-end workflow. You will partner closely with Business Analysts, Software Project Managers, and Developers to ensure solutions are architected soundly before being built, that technical risk is understood and remediated early, and that data and metadata move safely across environments. Your mission is to keep Lockbox LIMS implementations technically sound and scalable as they extend to meet the complex, regulated workflows of modern laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design the ERD and system architecture for custom client solutions, including wireframes and process diagrams for custom processes.
  • Design complex technical solutions that extend Lockbox LIMS’ core Salesforce platform to meet sophisticated laboratory and business workflow requirements.
  • Write high-level User Story Requirements and Design Specs for technically complex User Stories, giving Developers and Builders a clear technical foundation to build from.
  • Provide preliminary estimates of cost and time to deliver requested functionality during contract negotiations, project planning, and other scoping conversations.
  • Serve as the point of escalation for complex technical issues, diagnosing root causes and directing the path to resolution.
  • Oversee the release and migration process for both data and metadata across environments, including client migrations and org-to-org moves.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Developers to communicate architectural decisions and technical risk, and ensure delivery stays aligned with the approved design.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
  • Salesforce Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise with Salesforce Flow, Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, APIs, and platform data-model/architecture best practices.
  • System, Process, and Data Architecture: Proven experience producing ERDs, system architecture diagrams, and process diagrams for complex, custom business processes.
  • Workflow Analysis and Documentation: Strong capability in capturing, analyzing, and documenting complex lab and business workflows. This includes documenting at both a high-level and task-level detail using long-form text and diagrams for effective requirement management and workflow design.
  • Communication and Facilitation: Excellent listening, communication, and client-facing skills, with a proven ability to effectively facilitate discussions and explain technical concepts to non-technical lab stakeholders.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in laboratory, healthcare, life sciences, biotech, or similar environments.
  • Language: Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English, with the ability to lead meetings and draft technical documentation independently.
  • Availability: Consistent availability during core business hours in the United States and/or Europe to facilitate collaboration.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with lab informatics software including lab information management system platforms.
  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect, System Architect, Application Architect, or other relevant advanced certifications.
  • Familiarity with laboratory and related regulatory frameworks, such as CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, and GDPR.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience and/or proven ability to consult with PhD-level stakeholders with complex operational requirements.
  • Experience working in a hybrid Agile/Waterfall environment.
  • Experience in cross-cultural collaboration, particularly with teams in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and/or Southeast Asia.
  • Advanced degree in biology, computer science, or a related field.
