Job summary

Univar Solutions is seeking a driven, hands-on technical business development professional to promote and grow its Biopharma ingredients presence across North America. The role involves working with customer R&D, manufacturing, and business development teams to generate new opportunities and drive revenue growth.

The candidate will provide technical support, product recommendations, and assist in scale-up and tech transfer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Biopharma with a proven track record.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biotech or Life Science.
• Strong knowledge of Biopharma manufacturing and R&D processes.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and manage 3 direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, develop and close new opportunities in Biopharma with R&D, manufacturing and BD teams.
• Provide technical and formulation support and product recommendations.
• Grow Univar Solutions’ share using consultative selling at all account levels.
• Use Salesforce to report qualitative and quantitative updates and forecasts.
• Generate industry insights, recommend corrective actions, and help implement them.
• Stay ahead of product trends and prospect for new business across NA.
• Collaborate with sales and product management to develop new business and support existing accounts.
• Support customers during scale‑up and technical transfer of projects.
• Provide product training internally and externally.

The role will focus on promoting and growing Univar Solutions Pharmaceutical Ingredients presence and share in the Biopharma industry across North America.

What you will do:

• Initiate, develop and close new opportunities within the Biopharma Industry primarily working with customer R&D, manufacturing, and business development teams.


• Provide appropriate product recommendations, technical and formulation support to our customers.


• Enhance Univar Solutions' position within each account using consultative and in-depth selling at all levels within the account.


• Actively communicate qualitative and quantitative updates using company CRM tools (Salesforce).


• Generate industry reports, make recommendations for corrective action, and actively assist in their implementation.


• Stay ahead of product trends and industry development and prospect for new business; conduct sales calls and actively grow the territory.


• Work closely with the sales and product management team to establish new business and support existing business by being part of a coordinated team selling efforts.


• Support customers during scale‑up and technical transfer of projects.


• Provide technical training on product lines both internally and externally.


• Shares responsibility for achieving financial targets for the assigned areas.


• Understand and interpret government and regulatory requirements in the industry.


• Participate, network, and contribute to industry exhibition events and supplier training.


• Publish thought‑leadership content, tradeshow technical presentations and assist in generating industry‑specific marketing materials.


• Demonstrate commitment to safety, both personal and of your colleagues.

What you will need:

• 5+ years of experience with technical focus in the Biopharma industry with a proven record of accomplishment.


• Bachelor's degree (Chemistry, Biotech or Life science) required


• Strong technical knowledge in Biopharma manufacturing processes, formulations, and applications. Understanding of the primary drivers of the Biopharma R&D process at a national and global level.


• Managerial experience is a plus, this role will manage 3 direct reports.


• Able to travel up to 50% of the time. Travel may vary in frequency and duration.


• Able to work with an elevated level of autonomy and independence.


• Strong interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships internally and externally across a diverse network.


• Effective self‑starter with an affinity to work in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.


• Excellent ability to understand, analyze and communicate complex scientific and technical information.


• Experience and ease in navigating regulated markets.

Pay & Benefits:

The salary range for this role is USD121,340.00 - USD151,670.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be motivated by a variety of factors including the candidate's proven experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay. Available employee benefits include health, vision, and dental. We also provide 401k matching for retirement and paid time off.
