Role Description

The Technical Apparel Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Hazelwood, MO. In this position, the designer will develop performance-oriented product specifications and create detailed technical sketches tailored to the needs of hunters and outdoor users. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with product development and sourcing teams, refining fit through sample reviews and fittings, and ensuring products meet durability, comfort, and functional standards. The designer will maintain accurate tech packs, and support the product lifecycle from initial concept through production. This role also involves staying current with industry trends and innovations in textiles and construction relevant to technical outdoor apparel.


Qualifications


  • Candidates should possess strong Fashion Design and Fashion skills, with experience in performance or outdoor apparel preferred.

  • Candidates should possess solid Fitting skills, including conducting fit sessions, communicating pattern adjustments, and optimizing comfort, mobility, and layering.

  • Experience working with manufacturers and understanding apparel production processes, costing, and quality standards.

  • Candidates should possess expertise in Textiles, including knowledge of technical fabrics, fabric performance, and material selection for rugged outdoor conditions.

  • Relevant skills such as technical sketching, CAD or design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator).

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Passion for hunting, outdoor activities, or performance gear design, and the ability to translate real-world use into product features is beneficial.

  • Degree or formal training in apparel design, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum 4 years of Technical Design experience within the apparel industry.
