Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Technical Accounting Analyst for a flex office/home role. You will support the Technical Accounting & Research team, performing research, policy governance, and audit-related tasks with strong collaboration and detail orientation.

The position reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting, and requires a minimum of 10 remote/Madison in-office days per month. Compensation ranges from $62,000 to $103,000 annually and relocation is offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of accounting concepts, financial reporting, internal controls, and related financial processes.
• Ability to gather facts, evaluate information, perform research, document analysis, and escalate as needed.
• Experience communicating financial or accounting information clearly and effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheets to organize, analyze, reconcile, and track financial data.
• Ability to collaborate with partners and teams to obtain information and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with technical accounting research and documentation by gathering facts, reviewing relevant GAAP and STAT guidance, preparing draft analysis, and summarizing conclusions for review by senior team members and management.
• Assist with accounting policy governance activities, including reviewing policies for completeness and accuracy, identifying gaps, and supporting policy updates.
• Support audit, financial statements, and disclosure-related activities by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, coordinating responses, and assisting with recurring reporting.
• Perform recurring operational accounting support activities, including account analysis, reconciliations, recurring entries, and financial reporting support.
• Travel requirements up to 5%.
