Job summary

Poplar Springs Hospital in Petersburg, Virginia is seeking a Part-time Pharmacy Tech to assist the Pharmacist with daily operations. The role includes rounds to collect orders, restocking the night pharmacy, labeling and stocking unit dose medications, and maintaining logs and controlled substances records.

Flexibility with hours is required. Two years of hospital pharmacy experience and licensure with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy are preferred.

Responsibilities

Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral health services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. We have a new opening for a Part-time Pharmacy Tech. The part-time Pharmacy Tech will assists the Pharmacist with day-to-day operation of the pharmacy by making rounds to pick up orders, logs and data control sheets, restocking the night pharmacy, filling orders from floor stock and labeling/restocking unit does medications. Will perform stock maintenance, place orders, and restock with incoming orders and log controlled substances. Maintain accurate and adequate records; conduct audits, as requested. Is able to identify both internal and external customers and supports hospital mission. Other duties as assigned.

Hours will vary and applicants need to have flexibility with his/her availability.

• Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulation of Children's Residential Facilities. (22VAC42-11-380, pg. 43)
• Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
• Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
• Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
