Job summary

HumanSignal in Hoboken is seeking a Tech Ops Specialist to support the technical setup and operation of scripted audio and video recording sessions. You’ll work with cameras, microphones, audio recorders, and other production gear, following established playbooks to ensure recordings are captured accurately and consistently.

You’ll perform pre-session checks, monitor sessions, troubleshoot issues, and help with file transfers, backups, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience setting up and operating AV recording equipment according to playbooks.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate recording equipment per playbooks and guidelines.
• Perform pre-session checks for connections, levels, placement, and framing.
• Monitor audio and video during sessions and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
• Manage recording files, verify transfers and backups, and follow data offload procedures.
• Collaborate with the Director and Scene Assistant for timely setup and transitions.
• Document recurring issues and suggest improvements to playbooks.

Job description

• HumanSignal is looking for a Tech Ops Specialist in the Hoboken area to support the technical setup and operation of scripted audio and video recording sessions
• You’ll work with cameras, microphones, audio recorders, and other production equipment, following established playbooks to ensure recordings are captured accurately, consistently, and without unnecessary interruptions
• Set up and operate audio and video recording equipment according to established production playbooks and technical guidelines
• Work with equipment such as condenser and dynamic microphones, Sennheiser systems, Zoom F3 and H3-VR recorders, DJI Mic systems, and Insta360 cameras
• Perform pre-session technical checks to verify equipment connections, recording levels, microphone placement, camera framing, and overall recording readiness
• Monitor audio and video recordings throughout sessions, identifying potential issues before they affect recording quality
• Troubleshoot technical problems as they arise, working quickly and persistently through established troubleshooting steps to minimize downtime
• Follow standardized recording procedures, equipment configurations, and quality checks to maintain consistency across sessions
• Manage recording files, verify successful transfers and backups, and follow established data offload and equipment reset procedures
• Keep equipment organized, charged, maintained, and ready for upcoming sessions
• Work closely with the Director and Scene Assistant to support timely setup, scene transitions, and uninterrupted filming
• Document recurring technical issues, communicate challenges, and flag opportunities to improve existing playbooks and workflows
• Contract Duration: To be confirmed during the recruitment process
• Up to 40 hours per week
