Job summary

Valley Hospital is a private 122-bed psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health care and chemical dependency counseling. We are seeking exceptional Behavioral Health Technicians to join our team and support the treatment program.

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse, providing continuous patient care, safety, and observation. The day shift includes 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with opportunities to float to different units based on hospital needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 4 years in behavioral health education/experience.
• Associate degree plus two years in behavioral health, or Bachelor’s in social services.
• CPR certification required on hire and renewal.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling.
• Take and record vital signs accurately and monitor patient location per policy.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the nurse.
• Work under supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Job Description: Behavioral Health Technician-Day Shift

The hours for this position are: Float, 7:00AM TO 7:30PM

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) functions as an active and integral part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients.. The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) will take and record vital signs properly. Monitor each patients location per the Observation Policy and Procedure. Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and documents any changes in a patient's appearance, behavior or ability to work toward treatment plan goals. Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED as well as a combination of behavioral health education and work experience totaling 4 years; or an Associate degree plus two years or work experience in a behavioral health; or a Bachelor’ s degree in social services or related field. May work flexible hours and float to different units depending on the needs of the hospital

Additional Requirements: CPR certification upon hire and must be renewed on an annual basis. Successful completion of (SAMA) including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures
