Horizon Health together with Murray Calloway is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support the inpatient Behavioral Health unit in Murray, KY. The role involves assisting with patient care on a 12-bed geriatric unit under supervision, recording observations, and ensuring safety and comfort for residents.

The MHT works day shift (7am-7pm) on a full-time basis, with a focus on compassion, teamwork and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• 1–3 years of experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Crisis prevention experience.
• Ability to manage anger, fear, hostility and aggression in others.
• Ability to manage stress appropriately.
• Proficient in applicable software applications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Team player with ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Attend to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring).
• Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers and discharges; provide line-of-sight or 1:1 support.
• Regularly observe and record patients’ behaviors, vitals, and weight.
• Conduct therapies in accordance with patient’s diagnosis and needs.
• Check and document luggage and personal belongings; maintain patient property list.
• Perform clerical duties (charts, forms, filing, supplies).
• Monitor and document patient’s food and fluid intake; assist with feeding.
• Complete 15 minute visual checks as required.
• Ensure dignity and provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental Health Technician (with Associate Degree Degree) - Day Shift from 7am-7pm (Full-Time) – Murray, KY

Horizon Health together with Murray Calloway is seeking Mental Health Technician- Day Shift (Full-time) for the inpatient Behavioral Health unit in Murray, KY. This is a 12 bed geriatric psychiatric unit. The MHT will perform selected patient care activities under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. Primary duties include observing and recording patient information pertinent to the treatment plan and reporting this information to the Registered Nurse. This position is also responsible for escorting and monitoring patient activities and attending to their personal needs. The MHT must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Attend to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring, etc.) as required.
• Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers and discharges; and provide line-of-sight or one-to-one support to patients as ordered by the physician.
• Regularly observe and record patients’ behaviors, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weight
• Conduct therapies in accordance with patient’s diagnosis and needs.
• Check and document luggage and personal belongings upon admission; maintain patient property list.
• Perform clerical duties including, but not limited to making patient charts, copying forms, filing, ordering supplies, etc.
• Monitor and document patient’s food and fluid intake; feeding patients as required.
• Complete and document 15 minute (or less) visual checks on patients per unit/hospital policy
• Insure patient dignity and respect patient values. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
