VETS, Inc., is looking to add an experienced backend Technical Lead to our growing team. This is a fulltime, permanent position with full benefits. Due to contract requirements, this position requires US Citizenship and a current/active Clearance. This is a remote opportunity. Please confirm citizenship and clearance status.
Typical Daily Responsibilities:
- Use pgAdmin to confirm the health of the Postgres database server and verify the completion of server based batch jobs.
- Use AWS Security Hub to assess compliance with security baselines. If security issues are found, remedy the problem.
- Task support teams via Jira requests.
- Use VSCode to write Python scripts using pandas and boto3 to generate extracts of data and store those extracts to AWS S3 buckets.
- Create AWS Lambda functions using Python to produce exports in CSV and Parquet format.
- Research best practices for creating serverless solutions for database tasks. Solutions may include AWS Batch, AWS Fargate, and may work with Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS.
- Create and update tasks/issues in Jira for tracking purposes.
- Create and update documentation in Confluence.
- Maintain code repositories in git.
- Monitor a public email mailbox and provide advice on using the HCRIS cost report data.
Additional Responsibilities:
- The technical lead interacts with the ISSO, GTL and TL, providing technical support and instruction and guidance to the DBA in the completion of regularly scheduled and ad hoc tasks.
- The technical lead develops and tests new features and functionality to enhance the systems security and accessibility. With the help of the DBA, the technical lead creates new data products, usually simple extracts for CMS internal users.
- The technical lead is responsible for monitoring a publicly accessible mailbox and providing timely responses to questions about cost reports from the public and other government agencies.
- The technical lead also provides support for the ISSO by maintaining current documentation in the CMS security repository (CFACTS), participating in annual security documentation reviews, and correcting any deficiencies in the HCRIS security configuration or practices.
- The technical lead examines new technology as it becomes available in the CMS/AWS environment and works with CMS and support staff in maintaining current best practices.
