Job summary

Tenchi Security is seeking a senior backend/technical lead to shape the architecture of our API services and cloud infrastructure. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and CTO stakeholders, and drive secure, scalable backend development using TypeScript in a serverless AWS environment.

You will guide release planning, ensure system reliability, and advocate for best practices in API design and security.

Qualifications

• Academic excellence: a BSc (or higher) in Computer Science or related field from a top-tier global university.
• Industry excellence: a minimum of 4 years of experience at a world-class enterprise (e.g., FAANG, unicorn, or industry-leading tech firm).

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Direction: Define the long-term architectural roadmap for our API services and backend infrastructure.

• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small but growing team of high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

• Product Collaboration: Work closely with the Product Management team to translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical features.

• Quality & Stability: Partner with the QA team to squash complex bugs and maintain a high bar for system uptime and performance.

• Release Management: Own the backend release cycle, overseeing weekly deployments to ensure seamless production rollouts.

• Hands-on Development: Lead by example by contributing high-quality, production-ready code in TypeScript.

• Security: Ensure the API implements security best practices to meet the standards of our many large regulated customers.

• The Expert Programmer: You possess a profound understanding of TypeScript. You understand the nuances of the type system, decorators, and asynchronous patterns like the back of your hand.

• Cloud Native: Deep, granular knowledge of the AWS ecosystem following a serverless approach. You should be proficient in architecting solutions using Lambda, ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and EventBridge.

• Master Debugger: You have a “sixth sense” for finding bottlenecks and race conditions. You are comfortable diving into distributed tracing, logs, and memory heaps to solve the “impossible” problems.

• Backend Specialist: You understand API design principles (REST) and have a proven track record of building backend systems that handle a scaling platform.

• Technical Leader: You have experience mentoring senior engineers, managing a small team, and setting technical direction.

• Cross-Functional Partner: You work closely with QA, Product, and CTO stakeholders to move complex work forward.

• Communication & Location: You are fluent in English and Portuguese and are based in Brazil.
