Qualifications

Unit Overview

Our Emergency Department is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment serving a diverse population with complex medical needs. As a Level I Trauma Center and academic hospital in the heart of Washington, DC, we offer advanced care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring every patient receives timely, quality treatment.

Position Summary

The ED Tech supports physicians, nurses, and other care team members by delivering hands-on clinical and logistical support to patients in the Emergency Department. This includes assisting with procedures, collecting specimens, transporting patients, and maintaining the readiness of the ED environment.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, assist with splints, wound care, and orthopedic procedures
  • Assist with patient transport, mobility, and hygiene
  • Collect lab specimens and conduct point-of-care testing
  • Maintain supplies and clean patient care areas
  • Assist with patient monitoring and comfort measures
  • Document care activities in the electronic medical record
