Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, fulfilling all of the following requirements:

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
2. Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
3. Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
   1. Thank the Customer
   2. Engage with the customer and/or pet
   3. Advise on products or services
   4. Make it Memorable
4. Perform a combination of duties during 95% of your day, including:
   1. Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
   2. Recovery of merchandise
   3. Participate in freight process
   4. Complete Plan-o-gram procedures
   5. Assemble merchandise
   6. Perform janitorial duties
   7. Execute price changes/markdowns
   8. Assist customers with loading purchases
   9. Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals, sanitize and maintain tanks
   10. Complete documentation for all duties
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Experience: No experience required. Retail and/or pet/live animal knowledge preferred.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise
• Hard surfaces, adequate lighting and temperature
• Shifts generally no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours
• Promote safety and adhere to safety guidelines

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary role requiring movement throughout the store
• Ability to lift or reach overhead, move, and transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders
• Operate store equipment safely and effectively
• Complete documentation accurately
