This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing excellent customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, you must be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. You should be able to fulfill the following requirements:

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
2. Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
3. Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
   • Thank the Customer
   • Engage with the customer and/or pet
   • Advise on products or services
   • Make the experience Memorable
4. Perform a combination of duties during 95% of your day, including:
   • Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
   • Recover merchandise
   • Participate in freight process
   • Complete Plan-o-gram procedures
   • Assemble merchandise
   • Perform janitorial duties
   • Execute price changes/markdowns
   • Assist customers with loading purchases
   • Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals, including sanitizing tanks and caring for animals
   • Complete all related documentation
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Experience: No experience required; retail experience or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred knowledge, skills, or abilities

• Pet/Live Animal, pet food, pet product knowledge
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution with minimal conflict

Working Conditions

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise
• Hard surface floors (concrete, asphalt), adequate lighting and temperature
• Shifts typically no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours
• Promote a safe and productive environment, adhering to safety guidelines

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary position requiring movement throughout the store and outdoor areas
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently
• Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders frequently
• Move throughout the store for entire shifts
• Access all store areas safely
• Operate store equipment including computer and cash register
• Read, write, and count accurately for documentation
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers
• Process merchandise through POS system
• Move merchandise up to 50 pounds
• Complete all required training and certification
