This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Support selling initiatives by:
• Thanking the customer
• Engaging with the customer and/or pet
• Advising on products or services
• Making the experience memorable
• Perform duties such as operating cash registers, merchandise recovery, participating in freight processing, completing plan-o-gram procedures, assembling merchandise, performing janitorial duties, executing price changes, assisting with loading purchases, and caring for live animals.
• Complete all documentation related to these duties.

Qualifications

No experience required; retail and pet/live animal knowledge preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

Skills and Abilities

• Pet/live animal knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution.

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Hard surfaces and adequate lighting and temperature.
• Shifts typically range from 4 to over 8 hours.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move throughout the store and outdoor areas safely and quickly.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Lift or reach merchandise overhead; move and transfer items up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, and climb ladders frequently.
• Complete training and certification as required.
