This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives and performing assigned tasks, while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime as dictated by business needs.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
  • Thank the Customer
  • Engage with the customer and/or pet
  • Advise on products or services
  • Make it Memorable
• Perform a variety of duties during 95% of your day, including operating cash registers, merchandise recovery, freight processing, merchandising, assembling merchandise, janitorial duties, executing price changes, assisting with loading, caring for live animals, and completing related documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Experience: No experience required; retail experience and/or pet/live animal knowledge is strongly preferred.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Hard surfaces and adequate lighting and temperature.
• Shifts generally no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours.
• Promote a safe and productive environment following safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• This is a non-sedentary position requiring movement throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ability to lift or reach merchandise overhead occasionally.
• Frequent standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
• Ability to move throughout the store during a shift.
• Ability to handle merchandise and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
