Job summary

People’s Food Coop is seeking a part-time cashier to create an outstanding checkout experience. The position pays $14.50 per hour and offers 16–29 hours per week with a mix of weekdays and weekends, including afternoon and evening shifts.

Cashiers perform cash register tasks, assist with bagging, and engage customers while maintaining product knowledge. The role emphasizes teamwork in a cooperative environment and requires the ability to lift 15–25 lbs.

Qualifications

• Provide prompt, friendly service and help customers with questions and samples.
• Maintain knowledge of products and explain use/preparation to customers.
• Keep department cases, shelves and prep areas clean and organized.

Description

We have a part-time opening! Come to work for a company with a great work environment and 20% staff discount.

Candidates will work 16-29 hours per week with a mix of weekdays and weekends with afternoon and evening hours.

Our pay is $14.50 per hour

PFC Cashiers play a critical role in ensuring our shoppers leave the store with an awesome check-out experience. They efficiently and accurately perform all cash register functions, assist with bagging groceries, and ensure that each and every customer feels engaged and delighted.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide prompt and friendly service, including answering questions and providing samples.
• Maintain knowledge of product, provides information to customers regarding use and preparation.
• Ensure department cases, shelf areas and prep areas are clean.
• Order products as directed.
• Receive product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy.
• Prepare items for stocking, stocks, rotates, merchandises and faces product according to procedure.
• Maintain back stock areas according to department standards.

General Responsibilities

• Know and adhere to quality standards for customer service as instructed by the department manager.
• Adhere to all guidelines around product recommendation and information.
• Know and promote the cooperative values and principles.
