Summary
You will instruct students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. After each 30 minute lesson, you communicate progress (and celebrate accomplishments) with parents and caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum & educate students on water safety
- Evaluate students’ progress, and complete required paperwork in a timely manner
- Interact with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills
- Use problem‑solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter
- Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment; place and remove lane lines and class materials before/after lessons
- Perform lifeguard functions and/or light cleaning duties as needed
- Attend occasional mandatory workshops and in‑service training outside of regular working hours
- Fulfill other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your employer
Schedule
- This position is a part‑time opportunity for those 16 and up; schedule is based on your availability.
- Mon‑Fri: 9:00‑1:00 and 4:00‑8:00
- Sat‑Sun: 9:00‑4:00
- You will be scheduled for the same days each week (e.g., every Monday 4:00‑8:00) and must arrive 15 minutes before lessons for the pre‑shift meeting.
- Shift ends with the last lesson; no extended staying required.
- We do not offer half‑shifts or mid‑shifts; full lesson times must be covered.
Requirements / Work Environment
- Ability to swim; must complete in‑house lifeguard certification and pass a basic 50‑yard swim test.
- Must perform job functions in a warm, humid pool setting, including lifting, standing for extended periods, demonstrating curriculum skills, and performing in‑water rescues if necessary.
- Moderate noise level during lessons.
