Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Manufacturing team in Michigan. You will lead a group of hourly supervisors, uphold Ford Production System standards, and drive continuous improvement to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.

You will work to develop your team through coaching, structured feedback, and professional growth, while ensuring smooth operations, timely reporting, and a culture of respect on the plant floor.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

You will lead a team of Production Supervisors, driving the production of world-class vehicles. You will be responsible for upholding the standards of the Ford Production System, developing your team, and relentlessly pursuing continuous improvement to meet our goals

What You’ll Do...

Drive Operational Excellence & Execution

• Uphold Standards:Monitor and ensure all manufacturing operating system standards (Lean Manufacturing, Standardized Work) are consistently applied throughout your area of responsibility.
  • Achieve Production Targets:Lead your team to achieve daily and long-term objectives across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Maintenance, and Environment (SQDCPME).
  • Lead Problem Solving:Act as the first line of support for issues raised by the team. Coach and lead root cause analysis to implement permanent corrective actions for any process abnormalities.
  • Ensure Production Flow:Provide the necessary resources and confirm all critical inputs are performed to standard, ensuring a smooth and efficient production process.
  • Drive Systemic Improvements:Identify and drive continuous improvement projects to address systemic issues and prevent the recurrence of problems.
  • Lead and coordinate Continuous Improvement eventson the plant floor, empowering your team to identify and eliminate waste to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Plan & Execute Work:Lead the creation, coordination, and execution of work plans for scheduled downtime and shutdowns. Evaluate the effectiveness of these plans to drive future improvements.
  • Manage Change:Plan and implement process revisions and improvements to meet new standards as our manufacturing systems evolve.
  • Optimize Maintenance:Plan and monitor Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities to improve equipment reliability and overall area performance.
  • Lead & Develop World-Class Teams:As a dedicated coach and mentor, you will empower your team of hourly production professionals to reach their full potential through consistent training, constructive feedback, and unwavering support, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.

You’ll Have:

• Education:High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience:
    • 5 or more years of paint experience supervising hourly teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
    • Demonstrated experience in a high-volume manufacturing or production environment.
    • Experience working within a unionized environment.
    • Proven ability to use data to inform decisions and drive results.
    • Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve diverse problems under pressure.
    • Strong interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills, with the ability to present confidently to plant management.
• Education:Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience:
  • 8 or more years of paint experience supervising hourly teams in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Prior tenure in a direct leadership or supervisory role in manufacturing.
  • Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) or other Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
