Purpose:

The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety in the production process. This role involves managing a team of team members, optimizing workflow, enforcing company policies, and meeting production targets while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with Leaders and HR to reduce turnover through better hiring and leadership.

Lead mandatory daily team huddles and safety meetings, which will encompass communication of Diamond C’s expectations and communication to all team members regarding the team’s performance on Safety and Quality

Partner with C&L on one departmental team building and one cross functional team building event a year.

Health & Safety:

Enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to workplace safety regulation, adherence to our Safety Non-negotiables and PPE compliance

Investigate and report any workplace accidents or hazards.

Conduct safety training and ensure employees use proper protective equipment.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

Lead efforts to develop documented processes and procedures

Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications through accountability and proper auditing of team member’s workmanship.

Maintain compliance with industry regulations and company policies, procedures, and non-negotiables / good weld practices.

Lead root cause corrective action investigations to determine root causes for product failures, injury investigation, inventory issues and consumable life.

Production Management:

Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet company goals.

Assure Team Members are following all non-negotiables / weld practices through auditing and visual confirmation

Monitor production schedules, workflows, and deadlines to ensure timely product delivery.

Ensure the proper allocation of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials.

Identify problems and utilize problem solving to identify and address root causes.

Lead, train, and motivate team members to achieve performance through non-negotiables / good weld practices and safety standards.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

Address and resolve employee issues, promoting a positive work environment.

Spend 95% of the day on the production floor, supporting the operation and making sure team members are following non-negotiables / good weld practices and.

Process Improvement:

Identify areas for operational improvements and implement weld best practices, daily.

Suggest and implement cost-saving measures to enhance efficiency.

Create a constant effort in Waste Elimination throughout your line / area.

Work with your production team to streamline processes and minimize waste.

Support continuous improvement efforts and take a lead role in driving kaizen efforts.

Develop and maintain Gemba strategies to ensure alignment across the value stream.

Identify process improvement opportunities in the business and lead efforts to drive improvements generating a Return on Investment (ROI) of at least 1X annual salary

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or similar role.

Strong weld background that includes but is not limited to;

  • Training and accountability of machine setup (wire feeders, weld machines, plasmas, etc.)
  • Training and accountability of daily guns and consumable maintenance
  • Training and accountability of grounds and lead quality
  • Training and accountability of non-negotiables / good weld practices
  • Training and accountability of proper welds from a quality perspective

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Preferred LSS Greenbelt or Bronze LEAN Certificate

Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and safety regulations.

Documentation and accountability mind set

  • Ability & knowledge to hold team members accountable properly for expectations
  • Ability & knowledge to hold team members accountable for non-negotiables / good weld practices
  • Ability & knowledge to hold team members accountable for processes and procedures such as attendance and additional HR procedures

Able to set expectations for a team and hold them accountable to following those expectations

Problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach.

Able to train, teach and mentor Team Members on root cause corrective action process

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Good documentation skills and the ability to hold team members accountable to all expectations for their positions.

Proficiency in production management software and MS/Google Office.

High school diploma or equivalent (required); bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or related field (preferred).

3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.

Weld non-negotiables:

4.1. Safety Inspection of work area and required PPE and tooling: Check for hazards, holes and exposed wires.

Wear Required PPE: Hard hat, glasses, ear plugs, steel toes, and gloves.

4.2. Required Daily Check: At the beginning of each shift team members will inspect their MIG Gun and the rest of the equipment.

4.3 Clean the Nozzle: Use welding pliers, a wire brush or scrappers to remove debris and buildup (use of Nozzle Gel. At a minimum, nozzle will be cleaned roughly around 34” of accumulated weld length. 1” of Nozzle will be dipped in nozzle gel after each cleaning.

4.4 Clean Contact Tip: Ensure it's free of debris and replace if worn.

Tip must maintain a ¼” from Nozzle.

4.5 Clean the Wire Feeder: Clean the wire feeder weekly and inspect for any signs of wear or damage daily. if any damage or wear, inform the leader for them to submit a maintenance ticket.

Clean Drive Rolls: Clean wire feeder rollers, check for wire kleener pad, check for rusted wire,debris and check to make sure the wire roller tension is set correctly.

4.6. Welding Lead Liner: Welders will be responsible to inform the leader if there are any issues to get it replaced.

4.7 Inspect Ground Cables and Argon Hoses: Regularly check the ground cable crimp and bolt for a tight, secure and reliable ground path. Secure connections are essential for safety, welding quality, and preventing premature cable failure.

4.8. Inspect Gas flow : verify gas flow with Air flow meter.

4.9. Inspect rubber insulator: Make sure there is always an insulator on the neck of the lead. Most diffusers that become damaged are from being arced off on metal. Inspect for cracks and damage and replace.

4.10. Inspect Ground Clamp: Ensure the ground clamp is tight and you have direct contact, NO splitters. If the insulation is damaged, repair using electrical tape before the wire inside is damaged.

4.11. Set Parameters: Verify settings are correct based on the labels set in each machine.

4.12. Anti-spatter: Use anti-spatter on all surfaces , to avoid spatter stick to surfaces. Do not overspray on root (It will cause porosity)

4.13. Clean Clear Lenses on helmet: clean lenses both inside and outside as necessary. Replace lenses when they have gotten too scratched or dirty to clean with a soft cloth probably 1-2 times weekly.

4.14. Consumable Replacement: Check and replace worn consumables such as contact tips, nozzles, diffusers, O-rings, and liners, including PPE, pliers, measuring tapes, etc.

Place used consumables in consumable box (DO NOT THROW AWAY)

After all equipment is in compliance, we must take care of it. ( do not throw it, beat it, or use it as a hammer).
