GFT in Omaha, NE, seeks a Team Leader/Sr Project Manager for Roadway Engineering to join the Transportation Team. The role is hybrid and requires regular attendance at the Omaha office.

You will lead design and plan submittals for highways, bridges, and drainage to multiple DOTs, while growing into management and business responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years’ professional roadway engineering experience.
• Experience leading a team.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Nebraska or Iowa.
• Proficiency with plan submittals for highway/arterial design, complex intersections, local roadways, bridges, drainage for multiple DOTs.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects for transportation facilities including freeways, arterials, intersections and drainage.
• Oversee project delivery and budgets, review shop drawings during construction.
• Develop and mentor team members; conduct regular status meetings.
• Coordinate with clients and division leaders for workload and utilization.
• Support business development and proposals; maintain client relationships.

What You Will Do

GFT is seeking a Team Leader/Sr Project Manager - Roadway Engineering to join our Transportation Team in Omaha, NE! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Omaha, NE office.

What You'll Be Challenged To Do

GFT is seeking an emerging or established engineering leader with experience in roadway engineering and project management. This role has opportunity to grow from a technical focus into management and business-related functions. This role will be responsible for the design and preparation of plan submittals related to highway and arterial roadway design, complex intersection design, local roadways, site design, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, traffic design, drainage design for NDOT, MoDOT, KDOT and Iowa DOT and other various DOTs and municipal agencies.

Responsibilities

• Project Management
  • Perform project management and engineering tasks related to planning and design of transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, railroad and drainage. Produce plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for construction projects; oversee engineering reports, calculations, analysis and technical documentation.
  • Oversee project delivery by providing direction and oversight to project team members for the completion of technical efforts including roadway, traffic, drainage and site design projects and reports.
  • Answer questions and review shop drawings during the construction phase.
• Oversee Team Members
  • Support and develop team members.
  • Schedule regular status meetings.
  • Develop/manage labor projections.
  • Facilitate resourcing for the team.
  • Review/oversee project budgets.
  • QA/QC – work with team members to ensure quality expectations are met.
  • Develop contingency and transition plans, identify successors and provide mentorship.
  • Communicate timely and effectively with division leaders and managers.
• Employee Management
  • Ensure a work environment that retains top talent, creates development opportunities, communicates performance concerns, mentors and supports positive morale.
• Financial Responsibilities
  • Lead the project management to meet client expectations on time and on budget.
  • Work with team members on project performance.
  • Work with Business Manager for PM meetings; review at-risk projects.
  • Manage and optimize utilization; resolve utilization issues with team members.
• Business Development
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Approve proposals / RFQs.
  • Provide input and support at client service team meetings.
• Coordination with others
  • Work with Division Leader to ensure optimal utilization/workload by sharing work across teams.

What You Will Bring To Our Firm

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years’ professional roadway engineering experience.
• Experience leading a team.
• Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in Nebraska or Iowa.
• Professional experience in design and preparation of plan submittals related to highway and arterial roadway design, complex intersection design, local roadways, site design, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, traffic design, drainage design for multiple DOTs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Office, and engineering software (MicroStation/GeoPak; OpenRoads, Land Desktop, AutoCAD/Civil 3D).

What We Prefer You Bring

• Minimum of 10 years design experience.
• Experience with NDOT and IaDOT design-build.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $185,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
