Job summary

Thresholds in Chicago seeks a Team Leader to supervise a dynamic team of 3-6 Intake Specialists delivering community mental health assessments. You will share duties, guide clients, and help grow the clinical skills of the intake team.

You will assess needs, direct clients to services, and remove barriers to care while traveling to nursing homes, hospitals, and other community spaces across Chicago. The role includes supervision and ongoing leadership development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field.
• Licensed clinician (LSW, LPC, LCSW, LCPC, LCP) preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teaching skills.

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? As a Team Leader, you will supervise a dynamic team of 3-6 Intake Specialists as they provide mental health assessments in the community. This includes sharing intake assessment duties within the team and leading by example while working directly with clients, providing guidance, and growing the clinical skills of the Intake team.

Access & Implementation Team Leaders hold a unique position within Thresholds: they assess needs and direct potential clients to appropriate services while keeping an eye on the overarching goals of the program. You and your team will remove barriers to mental healthcare through assessing the need for service, making recommendations for treatment, connecting clients with services and resources, and helping them navigate complex systems.

During regular team meetings and supervision, you will engage and motivate your staff, provide direct feedback, coach staff on documentation, drive collaboration on client care, and help staff work through challenges. Share your knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices and receive ongoing opportunities for training, clinical supervision, and leadership development.

To succeed in this role, you need:

• Passion for mental health advocacy
• Strong communication and teaching skills
• Adaptability to staff and client needs
• Strong clinical assessment and clinical writing skills
• Superb time management and organizational skills
• A valid driver’s license, current car insurance, and a car for daily use
• Willingness to provide transportation to clients
• Willingness to travel to nursing homes, specialized mental health rehabilitation facilities (SMHRFs), hospitals, private residences, and other community spaces throughout Chicago

Education and experience:

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field
• Licensed clinician (LSW, LPC, LCSW, LCPC, LCP) preferred
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
