Job summary

Jackson Hewitt is seeking a Team Leader to manage seasonal staff across multiple locations in East Tennessee, ensuring efficient tax preparation workflow and revenue growth. The role involves overseeing staffing, scheduling, and daily operations.

The position requires prior supervisory experience, tax preparation knowledge, and a PTIN. In-person roles only; travel between locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Coursework in management or tax preparation preferred.
• Must have or be able to obtain PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number).
• At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience desired.
• Proficiency with common software (Excel, Word) and tax/accounting apps.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise one or more seasonal hourly staff at one or more locations.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing and hiring seasonal staff for locations.
• Maximize customer service and increase sales.
• Perform administrative tasks and manage schedules.
• Monitor staff performance and enforce quality standards.
• Review productivity and discount reports; take corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain filing system for tax returns and client documents.
• Encourage clients to file taxes at the office and follow up as needed.
• Prepare tax returns when needed (training provided).
• Deliver supplies to locations.

What you'll do here:

Under general supervision and in accordance with established company policies and procedures, the Team Leader participates in the management activities (staffing, productivity, tax prep work, marketing) for several locations within an assigned district. This position manages the day-to-day activities of seasonal team members assigned to several store locations. Drives the operation at each location to maximize the efficiency of Tax Preparer work and increase revenue and office profitability. This position has access to and regularly works with information of a sensitive, highly confidential nature, and regularly deals with diverse matters which require a working knowledge of the business.

• Supervises one or more seasonal hourly staff members at a single location or kiosk
• Communicates with the Manager on the status of recruiting, interviewing and hiring of seasonal employees for assigned locations when applicable
• Maximize customer service and increase sales
• Performs administrative functions
• Develops, reviews, approves, and monitors office work schedules and hours worked
• Monitors associate performance to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems
• Reviews productivity reports, discount reports, AAG, and other various reports and takes appropriate action where necessary
• Maintains a comprehensible filing system for filing, acknowledged, rejected and complete tax returns
• Follows up with all void/hold tax return clients to persuade them to return to the office and file their tax return
• Team Leads will also prepare tax returns (training provided, no experience needed)
• Deliver supplies to your locations

Skills you'll bring for success:

• High School Degree or equivalent related business experience
• Course of study in management or in tax preparation and/or accounting preferred
• Previous tax preparation experience and possess a PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number)
• One year of previous management or supervisory experience desired
• Proficiency with a variety of computer software applications such as electronic mail, internet browser, Word, Excel, and accounting or tax preparation software
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

We are an independently owned & operated franchise with 29 locations in East Tennessee and 7 in & around the Greenville, South Carolina area.
