Job summary

The Ziegenfelder Company is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead and develop a safety-focused team on our cold-processed production lines in Chino, CA. You will coordinate with the Plant Manager to maintain smooth operations and ensure product quality.

You will monitor GMP/SQF procedures, drive KPI achievement, and train new hires while maintaining 8-hour shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in a management or leadership role in manufacturing.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and lead in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience driving a team toward production KPIs.
  • OSHA 10-hour General Industry preferred.
  • Root-cause or problem-solving training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production teams to ensure safe, efficient operation.
  • Lead and drive a team toward production goals and KPIs.
  • Coordinate with Plant Manager on staffing and scheduling to optimize productivity.
  • Ensure GMP and SQF procedures are followed at all times.
  • Assist in training of new personnel.
  • Verify production paperwork and material usage logs for accuracy.
  • Assist maintenance to keep machines in good operating condition.
  • Address safety, quality, or defective product events and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across shifts.

Starting Pay: $22.50/hourBased in Wheeling, WV, the Ziegenfelder Company is a private, family-owned frozen novelty manufacturer that focuses solely on producing the highest quality frozen ice novelties, commonly referred to as twin pops. We are the largest manufacturer of twin pops in the country with production facilities in Wheeling, WV; Chino, CA; Denver, CO; and Lockhart, TX.The Ziegenfelder Company has produced steady and significant double digit growth year over year for the past 15 years while growing our tribe from 60 employees in one facility with three production lines to over 500 employees across four facilities and 17 production lines. Core to our success has always been making the highest quality, best tasting products in the market and selling them to valued customers at the best possible price. The Ziegenfelder Company owns and produces the brand Budget Saver, as well as, licensed and private labeled products for premiere retailers, such as The Kroger Co., Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Walmart. 24/7 operations in our three facilities generates over 2.5 million pops per day.Overview:Supervising production teams to ensure safe and efficient operation of production lines, producing quality Ziegenfelder treats for delivery to customers.Leading and driving a team in a manner consistent with Ziegenfelder Values.Supporting Safety, Quality and the Operation Teams to produce and package quality Ziegenfelder treats.Coordinating with the Plant Manager to manage staffing levels ensuring safe, efficient, and productive use of employees.Ensuring that environmental and safety expectations are followed during the shift and that exceptions, needs or opportunities are addressed and shared via our Event Management application.Verifying production paperwork to confirm completion, and accuracy, of raw material usage logs, metal detector calibrations, and product quality checks.Undertaking proper corrective/preventative actions when there is a safety, quality, or defective product event.Coordinating with the Plant Manager to review and adhere production schedules, cleaning operations, and product changeovers.Working with the Plant Manager to ensure Operators have the leadership skills and abilities necessary to lead production teams to success.Follows all GMP and SQF procedures and practices.Assists in training of new personnel.Ensures quality standards of products are met.Assists Maintenance to ensure machines are in proper operational conditions.Required Skills and AbilitiesHigh school diploma or equivalent required.2+ years of experience in a management or leadership role in a manufacturing environment, preferred but not required.3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.Ability to motivate and lead in a fast-paced environment.Experience leading and driving a team towards specific production goals or KPIs is a must.Mechanical or operational background, in addition to the above qualifications, is a plus.OSHA 10-hour General Industry Training and Certification a plus.Root-cause or problem-solving training a plus.Physical AbilitiesStanding up to 8 hours per day.Bending, twisting, reaching and grasping actions.Good spatial awareness working around manufacturing equipment.May need to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 30 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly.May need to climb, balance, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, push, and pull frequently during a shift.Working ConditionsSubject to cold temperatures of less than 32F for more than one hour with proper protection equipment.May be subject to noise above 85 decibels with proper protection equipmentWho We AreThe Armstrong Group is a family owned and operated collection of diverse companies.
