Job summary

Taco Fall River is seeking a Team Lead, Machining to coordinate CNC programmers and operators in a high-precision machine shop. You will train staff, oversee CNC programs creation and tooling design, and ensure on-time deliveries while meeting quality standards.

Ideal candidates have extensive CNC programming experience, strong leadership, and the ability to mentor others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment on a 2nd shift, onsite.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 15+ years of experience operating and programming CNC equipment.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word).
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Capability to mentor and train others and to share knowledge.
• Blueprint reading, basic math, and understanding of measuring devices.
• Good computer skills and advanced proficiency in querying, monitoring, and inputting NC machine and system data.
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, with the ability to apply mathematical functions.
• Advanced knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
• Able to keep team members well informed and to draw on other's expertise when required.
• Ability to interpret engineering documentation and write appropriate machine-level instructions, including revisions to existing programs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure programmers use CAD/CAM software to select cutting tools and speeds/feeds.
• Troubleshoot complex machining and guide employees in processing tasks.
• Analyze orders, drawings, blueprints, specs to determine tool selection and speeds.
• Observe trials or simulate to ensure programs meet specifications.
• Oversee writing and modifying CNC programs to improve efficiency.
• Coordinate with design engineering on machinability best practices.
• Provide progress, status, and troubleshooting reports to management.
• Approve tooling purchases to meet budgets.
• Maintain 5S standards in the work area.
• Provide advanced training on CNC equipment setup.
• Offer feedback on progress and aptitude.
• Serve as SME in machining, resolve complex issues.
• Design and fabricate fixtures as needed for high-level reviews.
• Coordinate all second shift shipping and manufacturing activities in absence of supervisor.
• Participate in interview processes to assess technical abilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Team Lead, Machining TFR (Taco Fall River ) coordinates employees who work in the machine shop , schedules and assigns work as required . Th ey train CNC programmers and operators and o versee creat ion of computer numerical control ( CNC ) programs for manufacturing components, cutter selection, setup documentation, tooling design and drafting, CNC tooling programs, verification, and shop aid sketches. The Team Lead, Machining is responsible for t roubleshooting the work of all employees within the machine shop that are responsible for the manufacturing of mid - to high - complexity components. They are s ubject matter expert s on complex machining and also p rovide backup for the supervisor on second shift as needed.

• Timely/successful training and evaluation of machine shop employees
• Accurately apply trade knowledge in the development and machining of manufacturing jigs and fixtures in the completion of product

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensure that programmers are properlyutilizingcomputer-aideddesign(CAD)andcomputer-aidedmanufacturing(CAM)softwaretoselecttheappropriate cuttingtools and speeds/feeds for a variety of material typesin ordertocreate CNC programs and instructions used to run a CNC machine
• Troubleshoots complex machining and provides guidance to employees in the processingof those machining tasks
• Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to determine the appropriate machine tool, work holding and cutter selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
• Observe machine trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications
• Oversee writing, storing, andmodifying oforiginal and/or existing CNC programs to enhance efficiency. Correct and guide programmers to resolve any CNC programming issues.
• Coordinate with design engineering on best practices and designs for machinability
• Provide progress, status, and troubleshooting reports to management
• Approves recommended tooling purchases to determine the best consumables for particular processes and to ensure that operational budgets are met and maintained
• Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner to 5S standards
• Provide advanced training to machine shop employees and programmers in the operation of CNC equipment and set up
• Provides feedback to management on an individual’s progress, abilities and aptitude
• Serves as the subject matter expert within the machining department, resolving complex issues
• Designs and fabricates fixtures as required and participates in high level project reviews
• Coordinates all shipping activities on second shift
• Coordinates all second shift manufacturing activities in absence of supervisor
• Participates in the interview processes to evaluate technical abilities
• Performs other duties as assigned

This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent . Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position reports into the site every day.

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and certifications.

Salary range

$31.21 - $43.69 USD
