Job description

To create joy and ignite Michiganders’ Impossible Dreams.

Shared Commitments

At orsa, our commitments start with our purpose and are guided by our vibrantly lived values. We walk together toward strategic ends, galvanized by regenerative leadership and a growth orientation which moves us toward our human potential, so that we can support Michiganders in shaping the life they desire.

Role Purpose

The team lead/core solutions development provides technical leadership and hands-on development expertise for the credit union's Symitar core processing environment. This position drives team growth through active mentoring, code review, and technical direction.

In addition, the team lead oversees the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of Symitar programming to support business operations and strategic initiatives. This role serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and third party vendors to better understand requirements, develop effective solutions, and ensure reliable delivery of core system enhancements.

This position has a minimum salary of$92,100, but your offer amount may be increased with relevant work experience and transferable skills.

  • Perform code reviews and promote coding standards, quality, security, and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide timely resolution.
  • Participate in testing, implementation, documentation, and ongoing support of software solutions.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead or participate in projects involving Symitar, integrations, APIs, third-party applications, and other core-system technologies.
  • Collaborate with business partners, project teams, IT operations, and vendors.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leadership.

  • Core Adaptive Capabilities: Independently diagnoses unfamiliar or ambiguous technical problems in Symitar/PowerOn programming by recognizing patterns across past projects, adapting solutions without a pre-built playbook.
  • Human-Centered Leadership: Creates a safe environment for programmers to raise questions and mistakes during code review and mentoring, tailoring coaching to each team member's development stage.
  • Strategic Thinking & Innovation: Proactively identifies opportunities to modernize Symitar/PowerOn practices and evaluates new tools, APIs, or integrations before being asked, weighing risk against benefit.
  • Execution in Ambiguity: Drives complex production issues to resolution under uncertainty and shifting priorities, making sound technical calls with incomplete information and adjusting course as facts emerge.
Functional
  • Core Banking Systems Administration: Serves as the team's subject-matter expert on the Symitar/Episys core environment, setting PowerOn coding standards and building the team's shared technical practices rather than just following them.
  • Project Management: Independently plans, estimates, and sequences Symitar development work across competing priorities, adjusting scope and resourcing as project needs shift.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifies and acts on opportunities to automate, streamline, or strengthen core-system programming processes without being directed to do so.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Builds effective working relationships with business partners, IT teams, and third-party vendors, translating their needs into technical requirements and back again.
  • Technology Systems Proficiency: Applies deep, current knowledge of Symitar/Episys, PowerOn, EASE, APIs, and related web technologies to deliver reliable, maintainable core-system solutions.
