OVERVIEW

The Susan S. We seek applicants who are committed to teaching excellence, both within a traditional BSN and accelerated pre-licensure MSN program.

The appointment will begin in fall 2026, and the search committee welcomes applicants with expertise in teaching a range of nursing courses. Current needs prioritize subject matter expertise in pathophysiology, pharmacology, acute and chronic care, and health assessment. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a teaching load equivalent to instructing eight courses over 12 months, primarily undergrad courses and secondarily, the pre‑licensure MSN program, with other job duties that include student advising and other service activities. We are seeking outstanding candidates who are dedicated to innovative and inclusive undergraduate teaching and contributing to the sense of community and support among students, staff, and faculty.

The University of St. Thomas is a dynamic, mission‑driven, urban university with 9,000 students and 450 full‑time faculty. Located in a residential neighborhood with easy access to both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, we are Minnesota’s largest private university with 150+ undergraduate majors/minors and 55 graduate programs. In 2019, the Morrison Family College of Health became the newest addition to the institution’s eight schools and colleges. The college is comprised of several departments and schools, including the Susan S. Morrison School of Nursing, which was established in 2021. The School of Nursing engages in innovative teaching, research, service, and community‑based initiatives intended to promote both public/community and population health. Health equity -- or the idea that everyone should have the opportunity to be healthy -- is central to all our work. As such, faculty and staff strive to create inclusive learning spaces that embrace the diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and worldviews of our students, faculty, staff, and the communities we serve. The Susan S. Morrison School of Nursing prepares highly skilled professional nurses who are culturally responsive, practice clinical excellence with ingenuity, and proactively improve whole‑person healing to advance health equity and social justice. Health equity and the reduction of disparities that lead to differential health outcomes for marginalized populations is central to our work. We aim to produce culturally responsive practitioners who provide compassionate, whole‑person care that promotes human flourishing.

The University of St. Thomas embraces diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all. Our convictions of dignity, diversity and personal attention call us to embody and champion a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
