Arizona State University’s School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership invites applications for a full-time, in-person Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor in American constitutional thought, with an anticipated August 2027 start. This nine-month appointment carries no tenure implications and includes benefits.

The primary teaching obligation is the course “Great Debates in American Constitutionalism and Politics,” with opportunities for upper-division courses in related topics.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Political Science, History, or a related field, or a J.D., by the time of appointment.
• Three to five years’ experience teaching college-level courses in American constitutional thought or American constitutional history.
• Evidence of scholarly focus on American constitutional thought or history.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, including Socratic, discussion-based teaching.
• Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Develop and teach undergraduate courses; typical load includes 3/3 in-person instruction.
• Deliver instruction in-person.
• Participate in professional and university service appropriate to appointment.
• Contribute to curriculum development and formative/summative assessment.
