Job summary

Big Brainbox in Frisco, TX, is seeking a part-time afterschool Teacher to lead tutoring in ELA, Math and Science for K–8 students. You’ll own your classroom, receive onboarding and hands-on training, and work with a dynamic team to deliver engaging, hands-on STEM activities.

You’ll foster inclusive, high-energy learning, support students with diverse learning needs, and communicate progress to families. Flexible schedule supports 3 PM–7 PM and Saturday shifts, with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Experience working in an educational setting (tutoring centers, STEM camps, afterschool programs).
• Strong communication with students, parents, and teammates.
• Ability to manage a classroom independently and create an engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

The Role - Teacher in Afterschool Program

You’ll independently lead afterschool programs for K–12 students. At BBX, Instructors own their classroom to support our after school program for our students. You’ll receive structured onboarding, hands‑on training, and a direct escalation line to BBX leadership when you need it. What You’ll Do

• Lead afterschool tutoring for ELA, MATH, SCIENCES for K–8 students.
• Facilitate hands‑on science activities in chemistry, biology, and applied STEM
• Deliver targeted tutoring in literacy, math, and STEM for K–12 students
• Support students with learning differences using positive reinforcement strategies
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, high‑energy learning environment
• Handle classroom setup, materials, and basic inventory
• Communicate student updates to parents and caregivers as directed
• Attend team check‑ins and required BBX training sessions

What We Are Looking For

• High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's in Education, STEM, or related field preferred
• Prior experience in an educational setting required — tutoring centers (Kumon, Sylvan, etc.), STEM camps, learning academies, or afterschool programs qualify
• Understanding of Neurodiversity learning needs and support
• Comfortable managing a classroom independently
• Strong communicator with students, parents, and teammates
• Reliable, adaptable, and mission‑aligned
• Familiarity with FLL, FTC, or robotics competitions is a strong plus
• Hands‑on chemistry or biology project experience is a plus
