Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking a qualified Teacher: Science for future openings. The role includes developing instructional plans and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.

The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's Degree in education and ideally have experience with virtual learning technology. Bilingual candidates are preferred depending on the assignment.

This position involves evenings, weekends, and requires travel to various Maryland sites.

Qualifications

One (1) year experience with virtual learning technology if assigned to Virtual Academy.
Bilingual and biliterate in targeted language required if assigned to bilingual program.
Hold or be eligible for educator certificate/license issued by Maryland State Department of Education.

This posting creates a pool of candidates for future positions that may become available.

Job Summary

Provides instruction of students by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials and presenting them using instructional techniques which meet the needs of all students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of students. Supervises students in a variety of school‑related settings and activities. Bilingual and biliterate in targeted language may be required depending on assignment. Virtual experience may be required based on assignment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Establishes clear goals and objectives related to the school improvement plan. Plans and prepares lessons, assignments, and instructional materials.
Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development.
Prepares, administers and corrects evaluations and assessments, and records results. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, board policy and administrative regulation.
Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies including but not limited to lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling and multi‑media teaching aids to present subject matter to students.
Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques. Counsels students when academic and adjustment problems arise.
Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning; takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials and facilities.
Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
Confers with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students; arranges and participates in teacher‑parent or teacher‑student conferences as necessary.
Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives and methods. May serve on special committees.
Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistants, teacher assistants, and volunteers.
Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in a related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.

Experience

One (1) year experience with virtual learning technology, remote instruction platforms, Learning Management Systems, and video conferencing tools, if assigned to Virtual Academy required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques; current trends, research and materials of instruction in field of specialization.
Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school board staff, students, parents and the community.
Excellent organizational and human relation skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement in student learning.
Ability to demonstrate techniques necessary to instruct students in area of assignment.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Ability to travel to/from Maryland Sites as necessary at the expense of the employee is required for in‑person appearances at various intervals throughout the duration of the school year.
Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
